 Barrie's role in the partnership is very much in the vocal area, and it is usually Barrie who provides the early vocals on all of the tracks. Despite singing the early melodies this task is gracefully and swiftly handed over to much more established vocalists when the songs are produced to demo standard. With regard to the song writing process this is, and always has been a collaboration of both partners and over the years has seen both Barrie and Alan bring chords, melody, lyrics and other ideas to the sessions. In addition to this Barrie's strengths lie in the playing, programming of backing tracks and the engineering and recording side of the partnership. Whilst Barrie is recognised firstly as a drummer he is also able to play guitar, bass, keyboards, and a range of brass and woodwind instruments. Throughout the years he has played in many bands and enjoyed performing at such prestigious venues as the world famous Marquee club London and the Carling Apollo Theatre Manchester. He still today keeps a very busy schedule playing drums with many different bands. |
