 Alan's role in the partnership is very much in the playing area and it is Alan who provides all guitars on all tracks. Being a seasoned guitarist and familiar with many different styles of music he is mainly responsible for the construction of chord progressions and chord voicing. With regard to the song writing process this is, and always has been a collaboration of both partners and over the years has seen both Alan and Barrie bring chords, melody, lyrics and other ideas to the sessions. In addition to this Alan's strengths lie in the production and arrangement of the songs. Whilst Alan is recognised firstly as a guitarist he is also able to play bass and keyboards and has also been known to offer vocals on the odd occasion. Throughout the years he has performed at such illustrious venues as the Royal Northern College of Music, and was also registered with Air and Advision Studios in London as a session Guitarist. |
